David Hicks is the Superintendent of Schools in Sherman ISD. Before moving to Sherman, he served as a leader in three nationally-recognized school districts, Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Grapevine-Colleyville, and most recently in Denton, the second-fastest growing school district in North Texas.
David enjoys living in Sherman because of the strong partnerships that continue to grow between the public school system, local business leaders and the city. Knowing that a highly skilled workforce is vital to the success of our community, he and his team are committed to implementing innovative programs that promote excellence in academics, arts and athletics and that best prepare our children for the future.
Dr. Hicks earned a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Dallas, a master’s degree in educational administration from the University of North Texas and a doctorate in educational leadership from UNT as well. He and his wife, Tammy, have two adult children. In their spare time and when the Bearcats are not playing, they love spending time with family, watching Texas Rangers games, and traveling.
